Today was such a special TV day that I had to finally write this entry.
I am a TV junkie. I am one of those people who have a debilitating addiction and think they can live with a crack pipe in one hand and a excel sheet in the other. My remote is my crack pipe & I am living with my habit. I AM HARDCORE, SERIOUSLY. (that was a grey’s anatomy question btw)
I will completely blame my parents. To my father’s defense I will say as a child he did not condone the TV watching but oo did Mommy plant the seed. & she is an expert TV watcher. I mean the woman filled up a TiVo in a matter of weeks and watches everythingking of queens to ncis to Russian tsar documentaries. The woman is my idol and she created me.
I am a quantity AND quality type of gal. I will watch anything. There is no bottom to my totem pole. But I especially love skilled writing of the dramatic sort. I seem to especially be attracted to TV where people are supposed to capture a very specific portion of society but do nothing of the sort.
HERE ARE SOME OF MY FAVORITE ABSENCES OF TRUTH:
1. Felicity – TV show about college students.
a. Truth – TV show about 25+ year old people acting out many more mature situations that a freshman in college would EVER encounter.
2. Grey’s Anatomy – TV show about doctors.
a. Truth – TV show about sex and blood. Although it sounds like Trueblood it is more about relationships and how to make medical cases with the most outlandish of situations akin to the trials and tribulations of life right out of med school.
3. Gossip Girl – TV show about rich people.
a. Truth – TV show about upper east siders and their constant struggle with being beautiful and rich. Oo wait, there is no struggle. Basically it’s a bunch of so-called teenagers with a lot of time and money getting into oodles of drama on a constant rotating basis. & most importantly books turned to TV (books that I , of course, read before the show existed).
4. Criminal Minds – TV show about the FBI
a. Truth – TV show where people with extremely exaggerated personalities and mental capabilities have no lives but that of collecting and figuring out the minds of serial killers and sexual sadists.
5. Gilmore Girls – TV show about a mom and daughter
a. Truth – TV show where a lot of really good looking people live in a picturesque small town where they drink a lot of coffee and have more pop culture knowledge than… well anyone. Oo yea and they have a lot of wacky townspeople.
While these shows show no semblance of the truth, I love them. I do. And not only do I love them but I watch them over and over and over. I actually cannot say how many times I have re-watched the entire 7 seasons of Gilmore Girls or the fact that I have seen every episode of the Real World even the first season when I was 4 years old.
I had every intention of writing recaps for every single fall premiere and give all of my amazing insights into what I foresee happening for the rest of the season but that’s a huge undertaking. And it would be a pure feat to keep it shorter than the last volume of Harry Potters and I am not exactly good at limiting myself in details. I am not doing it.
Frankly, I know only 1 other person who would enjoy that kind of detail and that is my sister and we speak everyday so its unnecessary to put it “on paper”.
Although if anyone is looking to discuss the finer details of a show please call.text.email.tweet.facebookme.googlebuzz. I am basically on every social network.
That is probably another addiction that I probably need to examine.
